ABOUT US
Munro School of Irish Dancing is a centre of excellence for Irish Dancing, founded upon decades of dancing and teaching experience. We aspire to ignite the love of Irish Dancing in a positive and fun environment, and to continue the legacy of our founder, Kay Munro, who established the school in 1964. We have grown to become a leading Irish Dancing school in North Queensland, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a unique and inspiring learning experience.
We are proud to be able to continue Kay’s legacy and provide world class instruction, from beginners to advanced levels where students are encouraged to gain confidence through performing, competing, or just dancing for the love of it! Come join us and learn the steps, technique and grace of Irish Dancing.
Located in Mackay and the Whitsundays, North Queensland, we welcome students of all ages and experience, to learn and love the tradition of Irish dancing whether it be competitively or just for fun.
New starters are welcome throughout the year.
COME DANCE WITH US
At the Munro School of Irish Dancing, we offer a range of classes to suit all ages and experience levels. Our classes are taught by experienced, passionate and highly qualified teachers.
Our dancers are provided the opportunity to perform at local events and compete in local, national and international competitions if they wish. To date our dancers have successfully competed at the World Irish Dancing Championships, Great Britain Championships, British Nationals, All Scotland Championships, Australian National Championships, Australian International Oireachtas and the Queensland State Championships.
Our dancers are also provided the opportunity participate in dancer grade examinations with the aim of attaining “The Diploma of the Irish Dancing Commission" and progressing to achieve teaching certification.
We strive to create a supportive, inclusive and fun environment, so that all our dancers can learn and grow in a positive way. Whether you’re a beginner, an experienced dancer, or just looking for fun and fitness, we invite you to lace up those dancing shoes and come join in the fun!
