Mackay Irish dancers win at the 2020 Queensland State Championships

Dancers from the Munro School of Irish Dancing have returned to Mackay from the 2020 Queensland Irish Dancing Championships with sensational results!

At only eight years of age, Anastasia is our new State Champion! In only her second year of competitive dancing, Anastasia is the youngest ever dancer to secure the title for Mackay and the North Queensland region, as well as being the first of any age in nine years from North Queensland to do so.

It runs in the family, with Anastasia's sister, ten-year-old Gabriella becoming runner up State Champion and qualifying to represent Australia at the 2021 World Irish Dancing Championship in Dublin, Ireland!

Nine-year-old Indy, and fifteen-year-old Keava both were exceptional in their performances, each winning 6th in the State in their respective age groups. Sensational results with all our dancers placing top 10 in the State!

We here at the Munro School of Irish Dancing are so proud of all our little Irish Dancing superstars! All have worked so diligently towards representing Mackay at the Queensland State Championships. Especially so, this year, when we have had a year of so much uncertainty and taking dance lessons via distance.

A big thank you also goes out to our dance families, they show just as much commitment and dedication in helping our young stars achieve their dreams.
